GTREX - The Urban Bicycle - Reimagined

Updated: Nov 21

Start your adventure right from your front door.

The KRUCH GTREX is the product of 2 years of planning, testing, and prototyping. A product born from trial and error, and ultimately - refinement. Locally here in Calgary, a team of bicycle enthusiasts and specialists obsessed over the details to bring our version of the ultimate urban bicycle to fruition. And now, in a few short months, you can have one too.

GTREX 001 in it's natural habitat

It started with a close friend posing the question: "If one were to view the urban landscape as rideable terrain, what would the ultimate bicycle be for navigating that landscape?" That question spawned some serious discussion, deep thought, and drove an obsession about geometry, fork offset, standover, and other critical criteria. The idea stuck.

Once the initial geometry and specifications were settled on, a factory partner was enlisted to build several raw prototype frames, forks, and bars. The components were then finished in Calgary - final welding, braze-ons added, faced and chased, painted/powder-coated, and then assembled. One test mule was hand-built from stainless steel for comparison purposes on ride quality. We now had three complete prototype GTREX bikes in three sizes.

After extensive traveling with the bikes - and many many kilometers put on the bikes in various terrains and conditions, we are very happy with the results.

The first testing occurred in Calgary in March 2024, but the first travel test occurred in Cleveland, Ohio - for the solar eclipse that occurred on April 8th, 2024.

For the entirety of the 2024 season, the test bikes have been loaned out, ridden daily, and subjected to everything we could throw at them. From pathways to pump tracks to pubs, and everything in between - we love this bike. Butted steel tubing provides a compliant ride, and relaxed pedaling geometry means that adventures are comfortable and can go on for many hours and kilometers.

The GTREX is available as a complete bike (3 models) or a frameset, or as a frameset/fork/bar combination.

Designed in Calgary, finished in Calgary, and assembled in Calgary - we are very proud to present the GTREX.

Key Features:

  • 29" wheels - ability to fit up to a 29 x 2.3" tire.

  • Steel construction - premium grade butted 4130 chromium molybdenum steel, TIG welded.

  • Tucked - all 3 sizes come with a very tucked rear end - 425mm chainstay length.

  • Dropper - all three models come with a dropper post.

  • Dropouts - sliding/adjustable.

  • Standover - drop the seat post and drop in - this bike is built for the pump track.

  • Fork - steel, segmented style, suspension corrected to a 120mm travel fork. Triple bosses on each stanchion, designed for a front bag mount or a light bar. 45mm offset. Compliant and versatile, and built to last.

  • Bar - steel, 780mm wide, 100mm rise, 9 degree sweep - designed for comfort and maximum shredability.

  • Parts - each of the three models comes with a carefully curated list of robust parts from our partners at Race Face, Shimano, Sun Ringle, Maxxis and Manitou. These builds are made to last!

  • Versatility - The bike has features that make it easy to take bikepacking, easy to hit the pump track, ready for gravel roads, and much more. It's the everything bike, although we hestitate to call it the "quiver killer", it's pretty close.

  • Customizable - For an upcharge - add additonal bottle bosses, rack mounts, or pick a completely custom colour. It's up to you!

  • Unique - There will only ever be 55 GTREX bikes. Each bike comes with a stainless steel tag and, it's number from 1 to 55.

Note: Each GTREX comes with a colour matched G-fork and G-bar, except the tactical edition - which comes with a 120mm travel suspension fork.
